Realising Achievement

Dear Bruce

As a member of the Education staff at HMP Belmarsh, I would like to thank you and your team for an inspiring workshop on Shakespeare.

The genuineness of the actors' desire to relate to the men and encourage them was transparently obvious.  They displayed real, totally non-patronising pleasure in what the men accomplished and formed equal relationships with them while at the same time keeping the whole session tightly structured and purposeful.  Above all, the men achieved, knew that they achieved, and were appreciated for it.  The value of that is inestimable.

I also loved watching people who knew and loved Shakespeare but kept it free of the must smell of English Lit and classroom intellectualism.

The kind of love and concern your team showed cannot be faked.  I heard the vision from you before the session - and then I saw it, and saw that it worked.  Thank you again.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Matthews
