Since their first appearance in 1996, IROQIM have been developing their unique blend of music, sound and text in venues including The King’s Head, BAC and Pleasance Edinburgh: ‘intensely compelling – five stars’ THE LIST ‘an agonising and bloody collision’ THE SCOTSMAN ‘searingly beautiful’ THE STAGE. Exploring the territory between live bands, pure atmosphere and storytelling, the trio of voice, cello and conga/bongos/household percussion has set up camp in the twilight zone between acoustic, classical and theatrical worlds. As well as the London premieres of two pieces using words by Ovid (via Ted Hughes) and Kafka, these shows will include the first performances of extracts from a new, longer work – The Starless Sky at Midnight – about one of the great tragic heroes of the last century: Scott of the Antarctic.
